Something has gone wrong for a typical Singaporean family. After a man loses his job and the respect of his wife and teenage son, he tries to reconnect with his family by taking them on a trip to visit a childhood haunt. Now abandoned and falling apart, the place is nothing like he thought it would be—especially not the ghosts of his past lying in wait.
Scored and inspired by SAMSARA, the latest album from SAtheCollective to be released with the film, THE WANDERING is a sensitive reflection of a family in crisis.

SAtheCollective is a non-profit charity, interdisciplinary and intercultural performing arts company. A highly collaborative organisation, SAtC seeks out like-minded artists to redefine the boundaries of creativity through interdisciplinary and intercultural practices. SAtC hopes to imbue the lives of people with a refreshing sense of aesthetic through our community of practice.
Based in Singapore, SAtC works internationally with collaborators and festivals across the globe. SAtC comprises the following sub-units: SA, an experimental music ensemble defined by a mix of ethnic instruments and electronics; LittleCreatures, a performing arts driven initiative to immerse children 8 years and below in a space where they can explore and play with sounds; and the ThirdSpace Studio, SAtC’s home space. Apart from music making, SAtC is also known for curating and producing performance-based projects.
Andy Chia is an Artistic Director, Artist/ Musician, Producer, and Composer.
The first professionally trained Chinese Flutist at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Dip, BA) and also the first Singaporean to receive a Masters of Arts in Dizi performance from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, as a National Arts Council scholar, Andy is the Artistic Director, Producer, and resident artist of SAtheCollective, a recipient of the Major Company Grant of FY19-22 under NAC.
Drawn to shamanic and ritualistic approaches, Andy seeks to explore the relationship between Humans, Nature, and Technology through interdisciplinary and intercultural manners.
His recent works include ETHNI-CITY III - Kali Yuga, that explored the relationship between destruction and rebirth through digital arts, music and dance; and Voices of Time, a sound installation that explored the passage of time through agrarian, natural soundscapes to the current technological age, commissioned by the National Gallery Singapore.
Yeo Siew Hua
Yeo Siew Hua’s A Land Imagined (2018), won the Golden Leopard grand prize at the 71st Locarno Film Festival and is Singapore’s entry to the Academy Awards 2020.
The film which is internationally distributed on NETFLIX also won Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Music Score at the 56th Golden Horse Awards. Extending beyond conventional cinema platforms his works have been exhibited at venues like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, Madrid, the NTU Centre of Contemporary Art, Singapore and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Taipei.
He is a founder of the vanguard film collective, 13 Little Pictures, which has organised experimental film labs around Southeast Asia and he is part of the artist group soft/Wall/studs, where he programmes documentary films in conversation with contemporary arts practice.
Russell Adam Morton is a filmmaker and visual artist.
His films have been part of the Athens Video Art Festival 2012 and participated in several group shows in London. His film, The Silent Dialogue of All Artworks screened at the Thai Short Film & Video Festival 2014 won Best Experimental Film at the 5th Singapore Short Film Awards. His second film, The Forest of Copper Columns, won the Cinematic Achievement Award at the Thessaloniki Short Film Festival 2016 and has been selected at many festivals including the Thai Short Film & Video Festival, Jogja Netpac Asian Film Festival, SEAShorts and Short Shorts Film Festival (2017).
He was also the Cinematographer for Ang Song Ming’s Recorder Rewrite, Singapore’s entry to the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019.
His latest film, Saudade, was com-missioned by the Asian Film Archive, and in the official selection of the 31st Singapore International Film Festival.
Rizman Putra graduated with Master of Arts (Fine Arts) from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2007, and has been actively straddling between performance, visual arts and music for the last decade.
In 2005, Rizman was one of the four artists selected for the President’s Young Talents Exhibition, and was part of the Fukuoka Triennale. In the same year, the now dissolved arts collective he co-founded, Kill Your Television (KYTV), was awarded the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) Singapore Foundation Arts Award.
Rizman has performed and exhibited his works in Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and at the inaugural Singapore Biennale 2006. Rizman is one half of the retro futurist electronic duo, NADA, and is currently an Associate Artist with Cake Theatrical Productions.
