Reminisce and sing along to evergreen classics from the 1960s and 1970s, with live music performed by a full wind orchestra. This intergenerational concert will feature veteran local jazz vocalist, Robert Fernando, and a pair of seniors who are specially chosen from an audition! Hosted by media personality Joe Augustin, The Philharmonic Youth Winds will present a repertoire of popular symphonic band music, specially arranged for seniors and their families to enjoy together. Clementi Town Winds (CTWinds) started in the 1980s with humble beginnings. It has since grown to its current 75-member strong status. 2009 marked an exciting new beginning for the band under the baton of Mr. Alvin Seville. The band is privileged to have Mr. Tarun Jayaram as their current Assistant Conductor.Since 2009, CTWinds has been making regular appearances at various school events. They have also performed at many public venues such as the Jurong Bird Park, Ngee Ann City Square, Singapore Flyer and Merlion Park. They also had the honour of performing at the Istana Open House (2012) and Clementi Arts and Culture Festival. They have also made themselves known internationally, having participated in band exchanges to Hong Kong in 2009 and Taiwan in 2011.In 2016, the band also participated in the 8th Winter Band Festival in Hong Kong, where they were awarded the Silver Award in the Senior Division. In 2018, they participated in the 6th Singapore International Band Festival and were awarded a Gold Award for their outstanding performance.CTWinds continues to do well at Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentations, having attained Certificates of Distinctions at every showing since 2013 and most recently in Apr-2019.Join the CTWinds for an evening of musical delights as they present you music such as James Barnes’ The Third Symphony Movement 1, 3 and 4 and Satoshi Yagisawa’s Hymn to the Sun.Bringing the arts to communities in need through LimelightHalf of the ticket proceeds will go towards supporting Esplanade’s community engagement programmes that bring the arts to at-risk youth, the elderly, people with special needs, and other underserved communities.
