100 Million Mani Recitation Retreat...
THE 18TH 100 MILLION MANI RECITATION RETREATInspiring Lives:In The Light Of Great CompassionThe Singapore 100 Million Mani Recitation Retreat was initiated by the late H.E. Drubwang Rinpoche of the Drikung Kagyu lineage in the year 2001. Since then, more than 10,000 people have participated in this auspicious retreat. The 18th Mani Retreat will be led by His Eminence Thritsab Rinpoche and the Drikung Kagyu Lamas.ABOUT THIS MANI RETREAT PRACTICEParticipants will gather to recite the six syllabus mantra OM MANI PADME HUNG, which is the heart mantra of Avalokiteshvara (Guan Yin) Bodhisattva. Through the power of the mantra and individual’s effort, one will begin to uncover the excellent qualities of Avalokiteshvara from within oneself. By purifying one’s body, speech and mind, one may experience inner peace, compassion and wisdom. It is taught that the merit of reciting even one OM MANI PADME HUNG is inconceivable. Doing this practice will help to close the doors of the six realms of cyclic existence. Sentient beings will gradually be free from sufferings, gain rebirth in the Buddha’s pureland and eventually attain full Enlightenment. As this is a group practice, the merits individual participant receive is equivalent to the vast merits of reciting 100 million Mani mantras, accumulated by the entire group upon accomplishing the full retreat.

An Intimate Evening with Rachael Y...
"Along with the bad-assery, Yamagata brings a world-weary passion to her singing. Her voice is a soul-baring, sultry instrument that commands center stage at all times. She has that deliberate, I’ll-sing-the-note-when-I’m-ready pacing that helped make Amy Winehouse great, and before her Billie Holliday.” Associated Press“Highly successful indie artist” Forbes“Upbeat and orchestrally ornamented” Rolling Stone“The singer-songwriter unveils a dark fire burning within her obstinate self.” Paste"Yamagata’s new release is a career triumph. She did it her way, bringing to life the sound and songs that once only lived inside her head.” Electronic Musician“Some singer/songwriters wear their hearts on their sleeves. Some of them also make sure they’re dripping with blood. Case in point: the ultra-emotive singer/pianist Rachael Yamagata.” Digital Trends“Rachael Yamagata is a commanding presence to witness. She possesses a deep, powerful voice and a calming confidence that translates to seething, intense performances.” Audiotree"The writer’s newfound devotion to experimental soundscapes never gets in the way of just how damn listenable these songs are” **** - The Arts Desk"classy soul-baring pastorals from upstate New Yorker… a sonically rich experience that repays closer listening… Yamagata’s voice is superb at evoking languid heartache… This is an album of immersive and emotive pleasures’. Being: Glad That I Live
Have any of you given a thought to how much of the world is being taken over by artificial intelligence? What would the world look like if we were governed by a universal operating system that controlled everything we did, and determined who we ended up being? Set in the distant future, this production follows the explorations of RMO4N4 as she seeks out a musical refrain that arises from deep within, to discover who she truly is, and learning what she is made of. And it all starts when she plucks her courage to take a chance on some (innocently) dodgey confectionary.Being Glad that I Live is the opening concert of the school’s 120th anniversary held in conjunction with the Singapore Bicentennial. Celebrating the collaboration and talents of SCGS students, staff and alumnae, this whimsical, fantastical reimagining of an old tale is told with a distinctive SCGS flair. Come, journey with us!
