Tong Yao from Sichuan province, China, was the champion in the National Competition "小城故事" singing contest held in China that sought to discover the individual who sounded and resembled most like the late Superstar Teresa Teng (邓丽君). Since then, Tong Yao has been performing around the world and receiving rave reviews as she resembles Teresa most in both voice and appearance. Prakriti, nature, is constituted of the five elements; the pañca bhūta-s; earth, water, fire, wind and cosmos, the basic sources of life in the universe. The dance repertoire explores how nature helps us when it is enjoyed and worshipped and how life on the earth suffers when it is destroyed and misused, which is reflected in the title Pra | Vi Kriti, the nurturing and destructive nature of nature.PRAKRITI VIKRITI is a conglomeration of three Indian Classical Dance forms, Bharata Naytyam, Kathak and Kuchipudi, and the choreography is set to poetry from ancient Tamil and Sanskrit literatures as well as lyrics in Hindi and Telugu. Science Under The Big Top as it comes to the Science Centre Singapore from 28 October 2017 to 18 March 2018.The exhibition highlights how science has always had an important role in the circus and how circus relies upon a balance of artistry and science to meet new challenges and fulfil audience expectations. Just as science can satisfy our need to understand, the circus meets our need to be amazed, thrilled and even perplexed.Visitors will learn the science behind the circus by performing, examining and watching the art. They will also be invited to hold various circus acts up to scrutiny, investigating illusion versus reality, pseudo-science versus science. Visitors will ''live the science'' through the magic of the circus.The exhibition will showcase a collection of exhibits that visitors can try on. Below are some of them: Elastic Acrobatics - visitors will gain a better understanding of what it feels like by performing their own tricks while hanging in mid-air with a safety harness strapped around them; The High Wire - visitors will strap themselves into a harness and see if they can make it across a nine-foot-high cable; Balance Bar - visitors are challenged to maintain their balance, not allowing their feet to strike the ground; Contortionist - visitors can explore the art of getting into small spaces; Clown Alley - visitors will see some tools of the trade and will be able to try them out in the costume and role play area. any many more!Magic shows and activities will also form part of this interactive and educational extravaganza!

Get ready to be entertained once again by the Bendemeer Secondary School Concert Band in their second Limelight Concert, under the baton of Joseph Teo. Immerse in a repertoire of melodious and enchanting music with tunes from popular films such as Pirates Of The Carribean and Japanese animated drama film Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name). Also premiering for the first time in Singapore are the pieces “Wingspan” featuring a horn solo and the “Clarinet Concerto” by popular composer Satoshi Yagisawa showcasing a clarinet solo.Formed in 1977, the Bendemeer Secondary School Concert Band has widened its exposure with numerous school and public performances. Despite its short history, the Band has attained a high standard of showmanship and recognition over the years. In the recent 2017 Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation, the Band achieved its first Certificate of Distinction. They are very proud to note that as they celebrate their excellence sustained over the last 51 years, they are also very honoured to have produced a number of renowned alumni, one of whom is Tan Soh Hwa who has returned with her husband Chua Tiong Hong to continue the good work established by Lee Seck Chiang when he officially retired in the 1990s.At Limelight 2018, the band will perform under the batons of all three conductors. The band has also brought back many of its alumni who will be performing alongside the band’s current members.Together, Crescent Girls’ School Symphonic Band and the Crescent Girls’ School Alumni Band will bring audiences through an evening of delightful, ebullient music.

Repertoires include 二泉映月、乔家大院 之 《爱情》、梁祝、我的祖国.Duan Aiai is a national first-class artiste, an erhu soloist of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, President of the Erhu Committee of Shanghai Musicians’ Association, China Nationalities Orchestra Society Executive Council Member, Visiting Professor of the Xi’an Conservatory of Music and the Shanghai New York University (NYU).She began learning the erhu at the age of six under Liu Yi’an and Professor Wang Yong De at the renowned Shanghai Music Conservatory (SMC). Duan graduated with high distinction in Chinese Music PerformingArts degree from SMC. She was invited to join the renowned Shanghai Oriental Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra and later, Shanghai Chinese Orchestra as its Concert Master. The SSO horns tackle this showcase for the instrument, and the strings will feature in the vigorous Orawa by Polish composer Wojciech Kilar of The Pianist fame.
