This year, Vocal Associates Festival Children's and Youth Choir presents Karl Jenkins's ELOISE . Based on a Nordic legend, ELOISE tells the story of a princess and her quest to save her seven brothers who have been taken away and turned into ducks by the evil witch Volhek and the drogmires. Before the next moon rises, seven thistledown shirts need to be spun to break the witch's spell. Can Eloise accomplish this task and reclaim her brothers?Come have fun with this intriguing opera, by young people, for young people!

MI has a focus on nurturing local, aspiring professional musicians by providing opportunities in leading, performing and mentoring. In addition, MI aims to inspire and develop audiences through innovation and education, and spread the gift of music to all segments of the community.Led by Music Director Alvin Arumugam, together with Associate Conductors Ignatius Wang and Edward Tan, MI has put up stellar performances with much acclaim from reviews. In a Straits Times article, Chang Tou Liang described the Orchestra’s performance of Rachmaninoff’s Second Concerto as a “life-affirming outing” that “bodes well for a young orchestra with much to offer.” MI has performed large scale works, namely the local premiere of Toru Takemitsu’s “From Me Flows What You Call Time”. Additionally, MI has even collaborated with several musical groups. In July 2019, MI collaborated with The Opera People to stage the wildly successful Opera by Alexander Zemlinsky: Der Zwerg.Kanon Matsuda was born in the city of Takamatsu, Japan. She started her training at 4years of age with Professor Yoshiko Hosoda. Beginning in 2002, Kanon was a studentof the Gnessin Secondary Special Music School (college), in the class of Professor Elena Ivanova.In March 2004, Kanon was awarded the Grand Prix at the International PianoCompetition in memory of Grieg in Moscow. In November 2006, she was the winner andrecipient of the Golden Nutcracker in the 7th International Television Competition forYoung Musicians “The Nutcracker” in Moscow. In January 2007, she appeared before the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexey II at the children's Christmas party which was organized in the patriarchal residence in the Danilov Monastery.In April 2009, Kanon received the first prize and gold medal at the AADGT InternationalYoung Musicians Competition “Passion of Music” in New York. In November of 2010,she was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Competition "Classic-2010" inAktobe. In 2011, Kanon Matsuda won the Scriabin Scholarship "Path to Scriabin."In March 2012, she won the Romantic Music Festival of young musicians in Moscow. InFebruary 2013, she was awarded the title "Best Student of 2012 Gnessin Special MusicSchool."

This September, City Chinese Orchestra presents Resounding Classics, a one-evening-only showcase of enduring orchestral classics which popularised the modern Chinese orchestra in the 20th Century.
