Dylan Moran Dr. Cosmos
ADRIAN BOHM PRESENTS and LA COMEDY LIVE are excited to announce that Legendary Irish comedian Dylan Moran is set to perform in Singapore on 12 December, 2019, Thursday, 8pm, at the UCC Hall @ NUS with a brand-new show 'Dr. Cosmos'! Moran will once again offer his unique take on love, politics, misery and the everyday absurdities of life, all served with poetical panache from one of the finest comedians of his generation. Moran has been called the Oscar Wilde of comedy and his famed style - deadpan, witty and crackpot lyricism - promises to be an unmissable journey through his interpretations of the world, swerving cliche to offer a cutting blow to our idiosyncrasies. Dylan Moran is a comedian, actor and writer who, in 1996 at the Edinburgh Fringe, became the youngest ever winner of the Perrier Award. He went on to co-write and star in Black Books which won two BAFTAs. Other notable screen roles include Notting Hill, Calvary, Shaun of the Dead and Run Fatboy Run. Moran has toured the world many times, including versions of his show as far afield as Kazakhstan, Ukraine and across the US. His last tour, Off the Hook, took in 149 dates across the globe.Don't miss the one and only Dylan Moran! This show will sell out!"Trumping Shakespeare, he reduces life to four ages: "Child, failure, old and dead". Faced with one-liners as killing as that the world suddenly seems a better place."The Telegraph "His comedy takes on an existential dimension, as tubby, nicotine-starved, emasculated Moran comes to represent the struggles we all wage for meaning and connection"The Guardian "High-octane riffs from Irish master of grumpiness…spellbinding"Evening Standard "In his heightened ideas and vocabulary, Moran compulsively swerves clichés as he builds up layers of laughs… funny and fascinating, and utterly deserving of his place in the modern classics'The TimesAdrian Bohm PresentsDylan Moran

Here I am - Self Portrait created b...
A visual arts workshop where children will create their own self-portrait to be digitised and hung as part of a growing exhibition demonstrating the complexity of children’s self-expression and cultural plurality. This workshop extends themes of self-reflection, diversity, multiplicity and community as well as building fundamental skills in self-portraiture and watercolors. The large scale growing installation develops each day with the artworks of the previous day. The concept of this artwork shows the diversity of faces in our community as well as the perspective of each child artist and how they see themselves. This workshop was created by QPAC’s Out of the Box Festival in Brisbane. In this hands-on workshop, children paint their own self portrait. In doing so, they're asked to reflect on questions like: How do I want to be seen in the world? How is my face a reflection of who I am? How do I feel? Here I Am celebrates the wonderful diversity in our society and at the same time, explores each individual in their own right. We all may have different eyes, hair and skin, but we play the same, smile the same and laugh the same. Here I Am invites us to consider that the way our children perceive themselves may be very different to how we see them from the outside. This workshop was created by QPAC’s Out of the Box Festival in Brisbane.Click here to find out more about the programme.
Loo by Imaginique Children's Festiv...
Loo is a hot, dry wind from Asia that comes alive on summer afternoons. The show is a poetic exploration of the changes this wind can cause: moving the desert sand dunes, drying up wetlands and jungles, leaving ships buried in sandy oceans, unable to sail.Set around the bow of a sunken boat in a sea of sand, the show uses evocative music, buried objects and stunning visual effects, to give its audience a first-hand experience of the destructive effect of this wind… and a chance to understand how and why the Loo blowsQuote: ‘A spectacle without words, minimalist, poetic and of extraordinary beauty.’ by Reccomana.cat on ArticaClick here to find out more about the programme.

It's not about where you get yourself in the end. There's power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice. Ice & Fire: Yew Shan plays Sibelius
Ice and Fire15 December 2019, Sunday 5pm @ School of the Arts (SOTA) Concert HallPROGRAMMEPyotr Ilych TchaikovskySlavonic March, Op.31Jean SibeliusViolin Concerto in D minor, Op.47Pyotr Ilych TchaikovskySymphony No. 5 in E minor, Op.64FEATURINGYew Shan, violinAdrian Tan, conductorA dramatic celebration of music in our sunny Singapore – BHSO commemorates the season with the intensely virtuosic Sibelius Violin Concerto, featuring soloist Yew Shan, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.Singaporean violinist Yew Shan is BHSO’s Concertmaster and a gifted virtuoso whose last solo performance was that of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with the orchestra under the baton of Maestro Apo Hsu in 2018, which received outstanding reviews. One of the most famous and popular concertos in the violin repertoire, Sibelius’s Violin Concerto unlike other works in the genre allows for musical collaboration between soloist and orchestra; much of the work is symphonic in scope. The ethereal meandering beauty and style of Sibelian music contributed largely to the establishment of Finland’s national identity.Tchaikovsky’s fifth symphony seems to spring from his own inner spiritual experiences, and with the lush orchestration that is synonymous with its composer, one will be brought through an intense journey from darkness to light.
