SIFAS Presents | NATYA YATRA Cele...
As a tribute to its 70th year anniversary, the 17th edition of the SIFAS Festival of Classical Indian Dance, Music and Arts 2019 celebrates the history, heritage and arts of Singapore by creating a platform for international and local artistes in a 24 day festival from 22 March 2019 to 14 April 2019. As part of the festival, SIFAS is proud to present an original production, Natya Yatra, which commemorates the 100 year history of Classical Indian dance in Singapore. This theatrical dance production brings together 4 major Indian dance schools and 1 long-time troupe, each with its own rich and vibrant history: SIFAS (1949), Bhaskar’s Arts (1952), Apsara Arts (1977), Temple of Fine Arts (1981) and Bharathaa Arts (1999). Presented from the spectator’s perspective, the show illustrates the beginnings, evolution and future prospects of Classical Indian dance through 5 distinctive acts which showcase a variety of Indian dance genres using anecdotal narratives; cutting edge technology through lighting design and animation; archival images of historic moments, places and people; and a live orchestra performing iconic historic music combined with original compositions-- all of which embody SIFAS’s main philosophy – Art Characterises Civilisation.Aimed with the purpose of cultivating the arts in Singapore, this never- before-seen production promises to entertain and educate our Singapore audience on the legacy of Indian classical dance and encourages them to preserve and participate in this art form. This production also serves as an opportunity to recognize and pay homage to the pioneers and inspirational legends. An accompanying photo and video installation in collaboration with the Indian Heritage Centre of National Heritage Board will also be featured at SIFAS and The Esplanade showcasing archival footage of captivating moments in history. This performance is presented in collaboration with The Esplanade as part of the 18th edition of the SIFAS Festival of Classical Indian Music, Dance & Arts 2019.

《Beyond: Really Love You the Musica...
King, Eddie and John were three friends who love jamming in a band. They often busked along the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, mainly singing songs that discourse social issues, and hoping to bring the music they love to the people through musical connections. In a fateful encounter at a music store, they met a bass player, Victor whom they invited to join their band and together, build their music career. Since Victor joined the band, the love songs that he wrote were so well received and popular that the once insignificant band started to have a taste of fame. Subsequently their notable popularity granted them the opportunity to travel to the mainland to participate in a music competition, ultimately propelling them to stardom. Upon their return to hongkong, they held their first concert and their popularity continue to accelerate. Just as their hard work started to pay off, King and Victor held opposing opinions in deciding the direction of the band, causing the band to dissolve. During the time of their disbandment, King and Victor continued to pursue their individual music career, composing numerous hit songs. However, their individual results fell short of those they reaped when working together. In the end, with the help of Eddie's mediation, Victor and King resolved their misunderstandings, put aside their opinions, reunite the band together again, bringing the group to great success.
