Pangdemonium 2019 Season Ticket
Synopsis

Pangdemonium presents an electrifying line-up centred around the theme Present Tense / Future Perfect.

The season opens with LATE COMPANY, a gripping and timely play that examines the devastating consequences of cyberbullying. This is followed by an explosive, new original work revolving around the #MeToo movement by Ken Kwek (award-winning director of Unlucky Plaza), THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO PRETTY GIRLS. We conclude the season with the audacious, hilarious, multi-award-winning URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL, flushed with outrageous songs and biting satire on the times that we live in. Trust us - urine for a whole lot of fun!

Late Company

22 Feb to 10 Mar 2019

Victoria Theatre

Rating: Advisory 16 (Mature Content)

Debora and Michael’s lives are irrevocably changed after the suicide of their son, Joel. Trying to come to terms with their loss, they invite Joel’s chief tormentor and his parents to dinner.

Redemption, forgiveness and closure are on the menu, but first they all have to get through the main course of blame, shame and retribution.

Chillingly comic and provocatively polarizing, Late Company turns the spotlight on today’s increasingly volatile youth culture.

This is What Happens to Pretty Girls

10 May to 26 May 2019

Drama Centre Theatre

Rating TBA

Centred on the #MeToo movement, Pangdemonium’s world premiere of This is What Happens to Pretty Girls is a story of those who have not been liberated by #MeToo but instead, whose lives perch between damnation and deliverance.

Drawing on interviews with more than 100 women and men, playwright Ken Kwek chronicles their stories of violence, heartbreak and survival, culminating in a provocative and powerful piece of theatre that will challenge all preconceived notions.

Urinetown: The Musical

27 Sept to 13 Oct 2019

Drama Centre Theatre

Rating: Advisory (Some Mature Content)

Urinetown is the hilariously audacious musical satire that takes the piss out of the legal system, capitalism, populism, bureaucracy, political corruption and musical themselves!

Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on musical theatre.

With its warped depiction of a dystopian world, coupled with its wickedly modern wit, urine for a treat!
