An Evening With 98 Degrees
An Evening with 98°LAMC Productions is proud to announce that popular boy band 98° will perform in Singapore on February 20, 2020, Thursday at The Star Theatre! This isn't a time warp back to the late 90s, but it'll certainly give you a major dose of nostalgia. 98° is back to steal hearts and serenade fans with their upcoming performance in Singapore. The wholesome R&B-inspired pop group who scored six Top 20 hits during their 1997-2000 commercial peak is comprised of members Nick and Drew Lachey, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre — they first emerged in the 1990s alongside famous acts like *NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys. After taking a long break, the group recently headlined their own tour in 2016 and also released their first full-length Christmas album in 2018.Back then, 98° had teenage girls everywhere swooning after them and until now, the pop quartet greatly appeals not only to the female audience but also to 90’s music enthusiasts. Topping the charts with their R&B ballads like I Do (Cherish You), Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche), The Hardest Thing, Invisible Man and Because Of You, and collabs ‘Thank God I Found You,’ with Mariah Carey and ‘True To Your Heart’ with Stevie Wonder, 98° became the sexiest boy band ever. Their early days of fame were filled with number one singles, world tours, MTVs, and screaming fans. Now, the band reunites for a music spectacle, promising the Singapore crowd a real glimpse into the past through their classic hits!
National Gallery Singapore - Weavin...
Weaving Workshop with Yee I-Lann, Julitah Kulinting and Roziah JalalidSat 30 Nov | 1.30 pm – 4.30pm | Glass RoomTikar-A-Gagah is a new work by artist Yee I-Lann (b. 1971, Malaysia), commissioned by the Gallery for our OUTBOUND series. The giant double-sided mat (or tikar in Malay) is a collaboration between Yee and weavers in Sabah, a northern Borneo state in Malaysia. The front side of the mat is completed by the sea indigenous Bajau Sama DiLaut weavers from Semporna, whilst the reverse side is woven by the land indigenous Dusuns and Muruts of the Keningau district.Try your hand at two of the traditional Bornean weaving techniques used in the making of Tikar-A-Gagah during this entry level workshop, planned in conjunction with the launch of the commission. Participants will learn about screw pine (pandanus) weaving with Bajau weaver Roziah Jalalid, as well as split bamboo weaving with Dusun weaver Julitah Kulinting. This workshop is targeted at beginners. Due to time constraints and the labour-intensive nature of weaving, the workshop will focus on teaching participants on how to start a small weave using the two methods. Participants may need to complete the pieces in their own time after the workshop. This workshop will be carried out in a mix of Bahasa Melayu and English, with local artists including Zarina Muhammad facilitating and translating the session. This event is part of the programming for the OUTBOUND series. For more information please visit: www.nationalgallery.sg/outbound.
