SQUEEZE - Live in Singapore
Synopsis

LAMC Productions is psyched to announce that iconic British new wave band, SQUEEZE will perform in Singapore, as part of their upcoming tour, on Friday, 4 May, 2018 at University Cultural Centre, NUS!

The band are currently in the studio recording the follow up to 2015’s critically acclaimed ‘Cradle to the Grave’ which was written as a soundtrack to Danny Baker’s BBC TV sitcom ‘Cradle To Grave’ (starring Peter Kay).

Yolanda, an accomplished session musician who has toured with the likes of Paul Weller, Eric Clapton and Hans Zimmer tells us “I’m so excited to be invited to play with Squeeze. The guys were a pleasure to record the new album with and I know playing the live shows will be a fantastic experience.”

Steve, lead singer of Grammy award-winning electronica act Dirty Vegas, has previously supported Glenn Tilbrook on tour and has a deep personal connection with the band’s music, saying “I don't know how many musicians get the chance of a lifetime to join the very first band that they ever went to see in concert. I was fifteen went I first saw this band, now I get to be part of an incredible line up, who are not only great musicians but lovely human beings too.”

“A crowd on their feet sang back new songs as though they were decades-old classics. *****” The Times

Squeeze first formed in 1973, shortly after Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook had begun their songwriting partnership, brought together by an ad in a sweetshop window. By 1977 they had made their recording debut and enjoyed a string of hits which lasted until 1982, the maturity of their songs outliving their initial burst of chart activity on the back of New Wave. Over the years there have been solo careers and occasional separations, but the Ivor Novello Award-winning songwriting duo Chris and Glenn reunited ten years ago to relaunch Squeeze and have been touring, writing and recording together since.

The band has long been a captivating live act, and this year triumphed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury with The Guardian saying they “[went] down a storm… Squeeze’s success is a pretty infectious thing” and Acoustic magazine concluding that “they don’t have the bombastic hype of headliners Coldplay, but they have the songcraft and lyrical majesty to leave the headliners in the dust which they duly did.”

“Difford and Tilbrook deliver a rousing reminder of their talent for tuneful and touching glimpses of everyday life. ****” – Live review, The Guardian

As well as a vast catalogue including hits such as ‘Cool For Cats’, ‘Up The Junction’ and ‘Tempted’, they also have Cradle To The Grave to draw on, their first collection of new tracks since 1998. This album marked the complete and, frankly, triumphant reintegration of the masterful songwriting axis of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, in a beautifully-observed series of fond vignettes about childhood, growing up and the absurdities of the ride through life we’re all on.

The album was written as a soundtrack to Danny Baker’s BBC TV sitcom ‘Cradle To Grave’ which starred Peter Kay. The lyrics were based on his autobiography about growing up in South London in the 1970s ‘Going To Sea In A Sieve’, which Chris and Glenn could relate to from their own experiences.

The current line-up will feature founder member Glenn Tilbrook, long-standing touring members Stephen Large & Simon Hanson, and the new addition of bassist Yolanda Charles and Steve Smith on percussion.

Culture Club Live in Concert
LAMC Productions is beyond thrilled to announce that one of the most iconic and influential groups of the 1980s, Culture Club will be performing in Singapore, with the original line-up on Dec 11, 2017 at The Star Theatre, The Star Performing Arts Centre! Culture Club is back on the road! Fans in Singapore can relive the 80s as the band perform their classic new wave hits on tour. Since their inception in 1981 Culture Club have sold more than 50 million records worldwide, lead by their classic hits, "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me," "Karma Chameleon," and "I'll Tumble 4 Ya". The group is fronted by british singer/songwriter Boy George, who is universally recognized as one of music's iconic artists. George was recently presented with the Ivor Novello lifetime achievement award in 2015 for his contribution to the music industry. In concert, Boy George remains as fierce a showman as ever, taking the stage with the same gender-bending makeup and outré fashion that made him a global '80s icon. Whether he's bringing the drama on upbeat favorites or melting hearts with his coy croon on "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me", George always charms audiences with his soulful delivery, infectious dancing, and candid asides between songs. The band keeps pace beautifully, cranking out their signature brand of reggae-influenced new wave with an ease and funkiness that is sure to get fans grooving. Whether they're performing solo or sharing the bill with fellow new wave icon Howard Jones, Culture Club always treat fans to a nostalgic and dance-worthy journey through some of the best sounds of the '80s. Culture Club was formed in London in the early '80s by Boy George, an androgynous club kid who had previously sang with legendary new wave outfit Bow Wow Wow. Calling themselves Culture Club as a nod to their diverse cultural backgrounds, the band made their debut in 1982 with the album Kissing to be Clever. "A reunited Culture Club pack a great punch." - The Guardian Though the album's first two singles failed to make much of a mark, third single "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" topped charts around the world, catapulting the band to international superstardom virtually overnight. Their 1983 sophomore album Colour by Numbers was an even bigger smash, blowing up charts around the globe with catchy hits like "Karma Chameleon" and earning the band a Grammy in 1984 for Best New Artist. Culture Club released two more albums in the mid-'80s to moderate success, but by 1986 Boy George's struggles with addiction had pushed the band apart. They reunited in the late '90s and released the 1999 album Don't Mind If I Do and toured for a stint, but George's successful career as a DJ soon led to another hiatus. Following a few one-off shows in 2011, the band reunited in 2014 to record their sixth album Tribes -- a highly anticipated return that had fans dying to catch them on tour in support of the release. "Culture Club winds back the years with a well-executed, albeit slightly surreal, performance." - The Japan Times Current Lineup includes Boy George, Roy Hay, Mikey Craig and Jon Moss. Their recent shows have garnered rave reviews from the press since reforming. Culture Club is...."a true show band, with a master at it's center. If you like to go out, if you like to feel good, if you like to be transported by music, if you are in search of authenticity in a land inundated by fake,.....then this is your gig!"
