RACH 2 and MASS OF THE CHILDREN
Synopsis

Rachmaninoff composed his 2nd Piano Concerto upon his recovery from depression in 1901. With its deep well of Slavic pathos and its unending streams of gorgeous melodies, the concerto has long seared itself into the hearts of music lovers. It will be performed on the 8th of June by the renowned pianist Albert Tiu with conductor Joshua Tan leading the Asia Virtuosi, an orchestra composed of some of Asia's top musicians.

On both nights, Joshua Tan will also conduct John Rutter's Mass of the Children, featuring the Vocal Associates Festival Chorus, Youth Choir, and Children's Choir, led by their artistic director Khor Ai Ming. Stay tuned as well for a delightful mix of other pieces that will be featured exclusively on the 7th of June.

“...wittily alive… [Tiu's] subtlety and poetic commitment make you listen with new ears.”
- Gramophone

“Above all his playing exudes a golden tone that sounds as if it was made for 19th century Russia... [a] spectacular success.”
- The Advertiser, Adelaide, Australia
