THE INVENTIONS OF ANCIENT GREECE: ORIGINS OF OUR MODERN TECHNOLOGY
Synopsis

Imagine a day without a laptop. No vending machines for a quick snack, no pianos and puzzles for entertainment and no alarm clock to wake us up! Have we taken our modern conveniences for granted?

Travel back in time to Ancient Greece, at Science Centre Singapore. Visit our special exhibition - The Inventions of Ancient Greece: Origins of Our Modern Technology, from 19 October 2018 to 17 March 2019 only.

Discover the marvels of ancient Greek technology with replicas of inventions that were invented more than 2,000 years ago. Check out the features of the world’s first laptop, learn how trickling water contributed to the invention of the first alarm clock, discover how an automatic holy water server coin collector paved the way for our ubiquitous vending machine today, and be amazed by the first humanoid robot servant invented by Philon of Byzantium.

At this exhibition, you can dress up at our Instagrammable dress-up corner, where we provide costumes and props for you to turn into a Greek warrior or goddess! Do not miss out on the chance to try out the Pantograph of Heron as well, an impressive ancient Greek photocopying tool that was used to copy drawings and figures.
