When we are not ourselves, who are we? When we are beside ourselves, where do we go?
We have all felt disconnected from our bodies and the world around us—some more than others—in our own private ways. When you don’t know how to live in your own body, life can get a little absurd.
A sort of live concept album, Beside Ourselves is more than a concert yet not quite a play. Through scenes, songs and stories, acclaimed electronica duo .gif presents a multi–disciplinary exploration of how our rich interior lives interact with the surrealism of everyday banalities.
Darkly funny and uncomfortably intimate, Beside Ourselves interrogates this disembodiment through a collection of anecdotes and reflections which draws from personal experiences, various literature, as well as a series of interviews. From naked voices to immersive sonic delirium, the piece hopes to paint a raw and sincere picture of vulnerability and displacement.
