Known across the world for her powerful voice and perfect pitch, Lea Salonga is a singer and actress who is best known for her Tony Award-winning role in Miss Saigon. In addition to the Tony, she has won the Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards, in the field of musical theatre. She was also the first Asian to play Eponine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway and returned to the beloved show as Fantine in the 2006 revival. Many fans of all ages recognise Lea as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and Fa Mulan for Mulan and Mulan II. For her portrayal of the beloved princesses, the Walt Disney Company bestowed her with the honour of Disney Legend in August 2011.Lea most recently starred in the Broadway revival of Once on This Island as the Goddess of Love, Erzulie, and also serves as a judge on The Philippines hit version of The Voice. In 2017, Lea released two albums—Bahaghari, an album of traditional Filipino songs which serves as a reflection of all the intricate and different languages found in the Philippines to help preserve the island nation’s dynamic culture, and Blurred Lines, her electrifying live album which was recorded during her sold-out run at Feinstein’s/54 Below the year before.For this concert, Lea will be performing songs from Broadway musicals to film music, and a few notable Disney favourites.

Conceptualised by award-winning producer Sai Shravanam, this collaborative segment reimagines familiar tunes of both Agam and Kaushiki.A memorable music experience awaits you by Agam and Kaushiki, also known as the Nightingale of the East.AgamFormed in 2003, Agam is a Bangalore-based carnatic progressive rock band. Their unique soundscapes arise from reinterpreting classical carnatic sounds with a rock twist. Agam was featured in the Malayalam music channel KAPPA TV—a new generation channel that enjoys great popularity among youths of Kerala. The band last performed at Kalaa Utsavam in 2017.Kaushiki ChakrabortyKaushiki Chakraborty is one of the most celebrated Indian classical vocalists. Her concerts showcase her unique mastery over khayal and thumri styles of hindustani classical vocal music. Coming from a musical family Kaushiki's father and teacher is the renowned Ajoy Chakraborty. Hailed as a prodigy, Kaushiki has established herself as one of the finest interpreters of the Indian classical style, completely devoted to the music and its spiritual depth.Sai Shravanam Sai Shravanam is one of the few classically trained sound designers in India, and his in-depth knowledge of rhythm, melody and score writing is his greatest strength in music production. Since 2004, Sai has been composing for background scores in theatre, instrumental and vocal albums, re-recordings and films. In 2012, his versatility fetched him commendable recognition as a Sound Recordist/Additional Engineer for the Academy award winning film Life of Pi directed by Ang Lee.

Clementi Town Winds (CTWinds) started in the 1980s with humble beginnings. It has since grown to its current 75-member strong status. 2009 marked an exciting new beginning for the band under the baton of Mr. Alvin Seville. The band is privileged to have Mr. Tarun Jayaram as their current Assistant Conductor.Since 2009, CTWinds has been making regular appearances at various school events. They have also performed at many public venues such as the Jurong Bird Park, Ngee Ann City Square, Singapore Flyer and Merlion Park. They also had the honour of performing at the Istana Open House (2012) and Clementi Arts and Culture Festival. They have also made themselves known internationally, having participated in band exchanges to Hong Kong in 2009 and Taiwan in 2011.In 2016, the band also participated in the 8th Winter Band Festival in Hong Kong, where they were awarded the Silver Award in the Senior Division. Under the dynamic musical tutelage of Mr. Foong Hak Luen, the Commonwealth Secondary School Choir has been actively contributing to the musical culture in school, as well as participating in regular public performances. The choir has received Gold, Gold with Honours and Distinction Awards in the biannual Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation since 1999 and has also received two Gold Awards in international choral competitions held in China and Malaysia.For the first half of the concert, the choir will be presenting beautiful choral pieces like Arthur Sullivan’s The Long Day Closes and Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, alongside contemporary works like Ola Gjeilo’s The Ground and fiery pieces like Daemon Irrepit Callidus and Dies Irae.In the more light-hearted second half, audiences can groove to the familiar songs of ABBA. Conducted by Mrs. Tay Sze Chen, the Mayflower Secondary School (MFSS) Choir is a group of vibrant, young people who share a common love for singing. The choir has been consistently awarded the Certificate of Distinction in the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation since 2015 and Distinction in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Choral Singing Examinations (2014 and 2017).Even in its pursuit for choral excellence, the MFSS Choir hopes to serve and touch others in the community through performances such as a fund-raising charity concert for the Viva Foundation in Jun 2019. Xinmin Chorale is a youth choir comprising talented and enthusiastic singers. Through a love for music, they seek to inculcate a passion for singing in each of their choristers, in the process moulding them into all-rounded and gracious student leaders.The programme’s first half is built around themes of gratitude and compassion. A highlight is Et Misericordia from John Rutter’s Magnificat, which features alumnus Evangeline Ng as the soprano soloist. For the second half, the choir will be presenting an upbeat medley of songs from The Greatest Showman.About Xinmin Secondary School ChoirIn providing opportunities for growth and joy to its choristers, Xinmin Chorale has been contributing actively to the vibrant school culture. They perform regularly in public concerts and musicals, such as the highly successful choral concert series Melizo. In 2015, they were invited to perform at Youth Celebrate!—the inaugural opening ceremony of the Singapore Sports Hub, a national event that sought to recognise young talents. Xinmin Chorale was invited to perform at Voices of Singapore Festival (2016), which showcased more than 1600 singers from 37 invited choirs. To celebrate their Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) achievements, the choir was also invited to perform at the SYF Celebrations 2016 Opening Concert.Despite the choir’s short history, they have consistently received accolades at the SYF Central Judging for Choirs with successive Gold Awards since 2005, along with a Gold with Honours Award in 2011. For the elderly, successful ageing is a combination of minimising disease and disability, maintaining good physical and cognitive function as well as meaningful social connectivity. Based on the 10-year Jurong Ageing Study, the Age Well Everyday (AWE) programme (previously known as Dementia Prevention Programme) was developed to reduce the risk of Dementia in the elderly population through education, mindful awareness and physical exercise. By 2050, Singapore is projected to be growing old faster than any society in the world with mental disorders being one of the largest contributors towards early death and disability (10.2%). There is a growing urgency for innovative strategies to combat rising mental health issues and raise community awareness and support in Singapore. "Remember Me" is a theatrical music performance comprising of songs, drama and educational dialogues. Through vignettes from the emotional journey of Amah Lucy, who struggles to come to terms with dementia and its consequences for her family, herself, and her treasured memories, the audience is transported into the world of people with Dementia from an individual perspective. This concert aims to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with Dementia, and its impact on patients, their family and caregivers. Written in 1919, the Concerto is one of Elgar’s best-loved works. Alongside the Concerto are two other stylistically distinct 20th-century masterpieces. Opening the concert is Malcolm Arnold’s Four Cornish Dances depicting the history, traditions and character of Cornwall in the southwesternmost region of the United Kingdom. Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, written as a musical celebration to the end of the Second World War, rounds off this programme. The composer himself said of this heroic and joyous work, “I wanted to sing the praises of the free and happy human being—of such a person’s strength, generosity and purity of soul.” This concert is conducted by the SNYO’s Principal Guest Conductor Peter Stark.
