Paying homage to the songs and sounds that our parents and grandparents enjoyed, grab your parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles and treat yourself to some musical blasts from the past. Get ready to rock and roll with music from classics from Queen and Bon Jovi, and tune into hits by Jacky Cheung (张学友), Frankie Kao (高凌风). Not forgetting some local flavour with a medley of theme songs from classic Mediacorp shows, including 雾锁南洋，红头巾, 双天至尊, and an original Channel 5 medley featuring hits from Phua Chu Kang, Growing Up and Under One Roof. The ensemble will be joined by guest singers Chriz Tong (湯薇恩) and Robert Fernando. Chriz Tong will be bringing her own rendition of 大雨 by 娃娃（金智娟）as well as 小玩意by 彭羚. 天与地 Heaven & Earth
Nanyang Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra is pleased to present Heaven and Earth, our second concert since our debut in 2016. Heaven and Earth consists of various classical pieces, each with its own unique story to tell. The concert aims to bring the whole spectrum of different unique classical pieces and showcase them as one under the title of Heaven and Earth. The orchestra also hopes to contribute to the arts scene in Singapore, and strives to inculcate the rich Chinese heritage through our music with our audience.Besides performing renowned works by established composers like Guan Nai Zhong, and Wang Dan Hong, Nanyang Philharmonic Chinese Orchestra aims to promote recent orchestral pieces in hopes to promote up-and- coming talented local composers. Flame is the set piece composed by Benjamin Lim for the Singapore Youth Festival 2017. The orchestra is honored to be given the opportunity to have Benjamin Lim compose the extended version of the piece, and premiere it at our upcoming concert. The orchestra seeks to bring back timeless complex pieces that serve to indulge the audience and test the performers’ capabilities to their limits. Doing so will ensure that the orchestra’s standard is always maintained at its peak despite the inadequacies of being a semi-professional group.
