Rishi, in the meantime, became a regular feature on Singapore’s first LIVE TV comedy panel show, OK CHOPE!, toured his solo show Cannot Means Cannot with great success, and also hosted a travel miniseries for STB and Singapore Airlines titled Unexpected Journeys. After being fired from his father’s tailoring business, Rishi used all that leftover material to make history by becoming the first Singaporean to win the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition and perform at the Gotham Comedy Club and Comic Strip Live in NYC, and The Comedy and Magic Club in Los Angeles. “Winner” - Hong Kong International Comedy Competition 2012Since then, Rishi has been invited to headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne, India, China and Sri Lanka. Known across the world for her powerful voice and perfect pitch, Lea Salonga is a singer and actress who is best known for her Tony Award-winning role in Miss Saigon. In addition to the Tony, she has won the Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards, in the field of musical theatre. She was also the first Asian to play Eponine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway and returned to the beloved show as Fantine in the 2006 revival. Many fans of all ages recognise Lea as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and Fa Mulan for Mulan and Mulan II. One of the world’s most exciting contemporary chamber ensembles, the much-lauded Pavel Haas Quartet is named after the Czech composer Pavel Haas (1899–1944). Their reputation for championing the music – both familiar and unfamiliar – of their homeland is showcased in this programme of Dvořák’s popular American String Quartet and the work of the early 20th century Erwin Schulhoff. The concert ends with the titanic Op. 130 Quartet by Beethoven, one of his final works.
