From Singapore to Singaporean: The Bicentennial Experience brings you back in time to discover key moments and watch defining events unfold in Singapore’s transformation from as far back as 1299. As the centrepiece of the Singapore Bicentennial in 2019, this event comprises 2 parts:The Time Traveller is a 60-minute immersive multimedia show within the Fort Canning Centre that presents a powerful experience of Singapore’s history across more than 700 years. Visitors will go through five acts played out in the galleries.The Pathfinder is an outdoor experience comprising a set of pavilions with interactive elements that are situated within the Fort Gate area to allow for free and easy exploration. Visitors may spend another 30 minutes or longer here. Known across the world for her powerful voice and perfect pitch, Lea Salonga is a singer and actress who is best known for her Tony Award-winning role in Miss Saigon. In addition to the Tony, she has won the Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards, in the field of musical theatre. She was also the first Asian to play Eponine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway and returned to the beloved show as Fantine in the 2006 revival. Many fans of all ages recognise Lea as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and Fa Mulan for Mulan and Mulan II. For her portrayal of the beloved princesses, the Walt Disney Company bestowed her with the honour of Disney Legend in August 2011.Lea most recently starred in the Broadway revival of Once on This Island as the Goddess of Love, Erzulie, and also serves as a judge on The Philippines hit version of The Voice. This concert also marks her 50th years in show business.Frances Yip was discovered at the Sharp’s Night Four Lights Competition on Hong Kong television in 1969. She began her career singing commercial jingles, and recorded her first album, Love without End, the same year. In 1973, she was named Ambassador of Hong Kong for Cathay Pacific and the Hong Kong Tourism Board. She was then signed by EMI Records, and went on to record over 80 albums in a career that spanned almost half a century.She was also known for her versatility, being able to sing in a variety of languages including Cantonese, Mandarin, English, Japanese, Malay, and Thai.
