Stereophonics - Live in Singapore
LAMC Productions is thrilled to announce that one of Britain’s best live acts & rock icons, STEREOPHONICS, will return to Singapore, following the release of their latest album ‘Scream Above The Sounds’ on Tuesday, 8 May, 2018 at Zepp @ BigBox Singapore!Rising from pubs to stadiums, Stereophonics’ accomplishments are near limitless. Six #1 albums. Eleven Top 10 singles, including the chart-topping ‘Dakota’. Headline sets at festivals including Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, V and the Isle of Wight. Huge headline shows at Slane Castle, Edinburgh Castle and the Cardiff Community Stadium. Tours with David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, The Who and U2. When recently asked what he was listening to, Bob Dylan replied, “Stereophonics.”Twenty years after their debut Word Gets Around; Stereophonics’ tenth studio album released on October 27th via Parlophone Records follows Keep The Village Alive which went straight to #1 when it was released in 2015 and became their sixth chart-topper after Performance and Cocktails (1999), Just Enough Education To Perform (2001) You Gotta Go There To Come Back (2003), Language. Sex. Violence. Other? (2005) and Pull The Pin (2007).Scream Above The Sounds was primarily recorded in the band’s HQ in west London with a further session at RAK Studios. Created with the help of regular collaborator Jim Lowe, it’s an album in which creative sonic touches add to the band’s emphasis on songwriting and melody. While ‘Scream Above The Sounds’ doesn’t consciously reflect on the ‘Word Gets Around’ era, both ‘Before Anyone Knew Our Name’ and the lo-fi ‘Boy On A Bike’ suggest that looking back is the best way to move forward. Regarding the latter song, Kelly states, “That talks about when I grew up in a very small town and having that freedom of being on a bike on a white blanket of snow. That image is something I go back to, to calm myself down when it all gets a bit intense.”“Kelly Jones has got one of the damn finest voices in rock ‘n’ roll.” – ClashNow, founding members Kelly Jones (vocals/guitar) and Richard Jones (bass) are joined by the relative newcomers, Adam Zindani (guitar) and Jamie Morrison (drums), along with long-term live keyboardist Tony Kirkham. “It’s like when you think of Ronnie Wood being the new guitarist in The Stones,” laughs Kelly. “That new guy syndrome never wears off.”“There’s still no-one to touch them for rumbling rockers or perfectly-honed stadium ballads.”– Daily StarStereophonics'' debut album, Word Gets Around, was released in August 1997 and instantly charted at number six in the UK, aided by the singles "Local Boy in the Photograph", "More Life in a Tramps Vest" and "A Thousand Trees", all of which failed to affect the top 20. The band reached mainstream success with the release of Performance and Cocktails (and its promotional singles "The Bartender and the Thief", "Just Looking" and "Pick a Part That's New") in 1999 and have achieved a total of ten top-ten singles as well as one number-one: 2005''s "Dakota". The band have also been praised for their live performances, which have landed them headlining slots at many of the UK and Ireland's most high-profile music festivals, including Reading and Leeds in 2000, Glastonbury in 2002, V festival in 2002, the Isle of Wight in 2004 and 2009, and Oxegen in 2010. Stereophonics will be headlining 2 massive stadiums in Wales this summer along with headlining Scotland’s biggest festival TRNSMT and Britain’s newest 50,000 capacity festival RiZe.Each Stereophonics album attracts a new legion of young fans who are discovering them for the very first time. What’s more, it’s an audience that’s split evenly between male and female.

Voices Series The Swingles (UK)
“Stunning reinventions of songs by the likes of John Martyn, Elbow and Mumford & Sons, with subtle beatboxing and audacious harmonies… superhero singing to truly raise goosebumps.” – The GuardianThe legendary vocal group The Swingles make their Singapore debut at the Esplanade Concert Hall! The five-time Grammy Award-winners put their vocal virtuosity and versatility on stunning display as they present a performance packed with classical anthems, Baroque instrumentals, and folk, pop and rock songs, featuring artists such as The Beatles and Elbow, and hits including Libertango and Air on a G String. In 1963, American-born Ward Swingle first assembled a group of Parisian session singers to sing Bach’s keyboard music, resulting in the album Jazz Sebastian Bach that launched them to fame. For more than half a century since then, The Swingles (formerly known as The Swingle Singers) have pushed the boundaries of vocal music, amassing a repertoire featuring a huge variety of music that can be heard on their over 50 recordings, and on numerous film and TV soundtracks including Sex and the City, Grey’s Anatomy and Glee. Leonard Bernstein's Mass Performed...
What is the role of faith in times of social and political disillusionment? When Jacqueline Kennedy approached composer Leonard Bernstein to compose a piece for the 1971 inauguration of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the composer had a surprising inspiration amidst the political and social turmoil of the 1960s—the Roman Catholic Mass. At the heart of Mass: A Theatre Piece is the Celebrant, who, disillusioned by the doubts of his community, goes through a crisis of faith.Arguably Bernstein’s most ambitious work, Mass receives its long overdue Singapore premiere in the composer’s birth centennial. Joining the Orchestra of the Music Makers are two choirs, rock musicians, and a cast of Broadway-styled vocalists, epitomising the West Side Story composer’s deftness at fusing diverse styles. From solemn hymns and soothing meditations to edgy symphonic dances, and with an exciting infusion of Broadway, blues, rock, jazz and pop idioms, this eclectic musical-theatrical work is led by conductor Joshua Kangming Tan and directed by Edith Podesta, with production design by Brian Gothong Tan. Kevin Vortmann plays the Celebrant, following a sensational debut in the role with the Philadelphia Orchestra that was described by Opera News as “an exceptionally good choice for this central role…(with) immaculate dynamic control into the part’s many challenges."Joshua Kangming Tan, ConductorKevin Vortmann, CelebrantVilancico Vocal Ensemble, (Eudenice Palaruan, Vocal Coach)Symphonia Choralis, (Chong Wai Lun, Chorus Master)Volare Treble Voices, (Darius Lim, Chorus Master)Edith Podesta, DirectorBrian Gothong Tan, Multimedia DesignerIn collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay in conjunction with OMM’s 10th anniversary
Luo Da You Singapore Concert 2018 ...
Lo Ta-yu 罗大佑 is a Taiwanese singer and songwriter who, during the 1980s, affected Chinese pop and rock music with his melodic lyrics, his love songs, and his wittiness he infused in his songs, He is recognized as a major cultural icon in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. Stylistically, Lo defies classification, though his contribution to Taiwanese campus folk song (校園民歌) genre was most significant. His early music in particular shows strong folk roots, and many of his songs tap into native Taiwanese cultural influences. Some songs are reminiscent of 1950s American diner and soda shop rock, and others exhibit a 1970s lounge lizard growl. What captured the hearts of a generation, however, were his lyrics, touching on issues of life with a sense of humor. The lyrical style is rather conversational; the cleverness comes in the meaning, not how the words are put together. In 1985, inspired by the success of the charity single We Are the World by USA for Africa, Lo wrote "Tomorrow will be Better" (明天會更好), a highly successful charity single of his own. It was ultimately performed by over 60 different artists from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia, including Tsai Chin, Chyi Chin, Chyi Yu, Sarah Chen, Eric Moo, Fei Yu-Ching, Angus Tung, and Jonathan Lee.

1. L.van Beethoven – Sonata op 12, No 1Allegro con brioTema con Variazioni, Andante con motoRondo2. S. Prokofiev – Five Melodies--- intermission ---3. C. Frank – Sonata for Violin and Piano in A MajorAllegretto ben moderatoAllegroBen moderato: Recitativo-FantasiaAllegretto poco mosso4. M. Ravel - TziganeMiroslav Hristov – ViolinChih-Long Hu - PianoPrize-winning artists Miroslav Hristov, violin; and Chih-Long Hu, piano, have performed in prestigious venues around the world including New York’s Carnegie Hall, the International Violin Festival of Puerto Rico, and the International Interharmony Festival in Italy. As part of their East Asian tour which includes performances in Shanghai, Taipei, and Kaohsiung, the duo will present some of the most monumental and challenging works for violin and piano. The program commences with a staple of the classical literature and one of Beethoven’s earliest compositions for this medium, his Sonata for Piano and Violin, No. 1 in D Major. A signature work of the classical style, the beauty and simplicity of this sonata exudes an elegance and nobility that is uniquely Beethoven. From there, the duo looks to the East with an expressive performance of Five Melodies for Violin and Piano by the Russian composer, Sergei Prokofiev. Written in 1945, the Five Melodies were championed by the legendary violinist, David Oistrakh. In regards to the Five Melodies, Oistrakh commented that, “it is music in which nothing can be omitted, not a single turn of the melody, not a single modulation. It requires the strictest attention to every detail of expression, a fine, but not over-refined execution of each individual intonation, as in the case of well-enunciated singing.”The second half of the program starts off with the thickly textured and evocative work from the Romantic period, the Violin and Piano Sonata in A Major by composer César Franck. A depiction of love and passion, Franck’s Violin Sonata was a wedding gift to the Belgian violinist, Eugène Ysaÿe.In a technically thrilling tribute to Gypsy music, the program ends with a burst of energy and emotion with Ravel’s virtuosic rhapsody, Tzigane. Depicting the unconventional style of the Eastern European Gypsy, Ravel’s Tzigane is a work that explores the widest range of sounds and colors from the violin.
