R2 Resources is proud to bring you “#comedybangbang” featuring 7 internationally acclaimed standup comedians. This two and a half-hour show is coming to The Esplanade Theatre soon. The show will be hosted by our very own Sam See.These standup comedians will be entertaining the audience with the usual arsenal of controversial jokes and if this is your first experience, do not be alarmed by the no holds barred antics which has a decidedly local flavour. The international cast includes:DATO AFDLIN SHAUKI (MALAYSIA)This award-winning Malaysian multimedia sensation is known for his works in television, theatre, film, music and comedy.During the prestigious 1999 Asian Television Awards, he was awarded the Best Presenter in an Entertainment Programme for his role as the host of the late night Astro talk show, “Bila Larut Malam”. He hosted the illustrious talk shows for six years, as well as other game shows, sports, music and lifestyle programmes.In 2017, Afdlin was awarded the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) and conferred the honorary title of “Datuk” by the state of Pahang.DANIEL MCGRATH (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA)As the winner of the 2016 Magners International Comedy Festival Competition, Daniel refers to himself as a world traveler whose irreverent storytelling style converts his “fish out of water” adventures into a smart and bawdy comedy. His jokes provide tiny glimpses into his life as a father, husband, teacher and world traveler. DZAR ISMAIL (SINGAPORE)Dzar Ismail is a popular radio presenter and active scriptwriter. The charismatic radio DJ is a local viral video king, of sorts. Steinberg has further created, produced, and organized different photoshoots, collages, and drawings that discuss art and drag.Steinberg's comics and illustrations have appeared in The Nib, InkBRICK,Comics Workbook Magazine, QU33R,Cicada Magazine and others, under the names Sasha Velour and Sasha Steinberg. Sasha also created a series of comics entitled "Stonewall", which told the story of the Stonewall riots from multiple viewpoints. The series was called "a smart, beautiful and artful take on a significant and difficult historical event" by Highlow Comics.Sasha Velour didn't leap directly from the pages of comics and onto TV screens. Before her time on the show, she was a star in Brooklyn's drag scene, a community that embraces a definition of drag that spans far beyond female impersonation, and prizes artistic innovation in lip syncing. Velour's signature look—beautifully bald with a striking unibrow—and sensitive, video art-accompanied syncs made her a local success.
