A Night with the Dynamic Duo
Synopsis

A night with the award-winning dynamic duo Kion Chew (10) & Ryan Phuan (11). Be entertained with complete Bach 2-part Inventions to the complete Tchaikovsky The Seasons; as well as the works of Haydn, Mozart, Kabalevsky, Chopin as well as four-hands piano duet pieces from Mozart’s Papageno from The Magic Flute; and Faure’s Dolly Suite.

Dynamic Duo
Kion and Ryan started collaborating as duet partners in 2015. They have since won numerous awards and invited to perform as a duo in cities such as Paris, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Moscow. In 2017, both of them were invited to participate in the XVI Vladimir Spivakov Moscow Meet Friends International Festival and they performed at the Museum of Russian Impressionism and The Bosendorfer Loft. They participated in ChildAid 2017 in Singapore; and were invited to the launch of the Singapore Rhapsodies at National Museum of Singapore in June 2017; as well as the Grand Opening of the Steinway Gallery Singapore at ION Orchard in October 2017.

We would like to invite you to an evening of classical music; from the complete Bach 2-part Inventions to the complete Tchaikovsky The Seasons; as well as the works of Haydn, Mozart, Kabalevsky, and Chopin. Be entertained with four-hands piano duet pieces from Mozart’s Papageno from The Magic Flute; and Faure’s Dolly Suite. Featuring two award-winning young pianists, Chew Jia Ying Kion and Ryan Phuan Yanming, their prodigious talent is developed under the tutelage of Ms. Christine Gan Siew Hui since the age of 4 and 6, respectively.
 
Chew Jia Ying, Kion, 10 years old, her love for piano has led to her winning numerous top prizes and awards such as:
 
- XXII Amadeus International Mozartian Competition, Czech Republic
- 6th ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition, Malaysia
- Two Platinum Awards at the 6th Singapore Performers’ Festival & Chamber Music Competition
- 2017 East Zone Piano Competition for the 12 years and under Senior Category.
- 7th Mozart Competition, 12 years and under age category, Bangkok, Thailand
 
Kion has performed in cities like New York, Brno, Paris, Moscow, Taipei, Tainan, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Batam and Singapore.
 
Kion was featured in Channel News Asia (CNA) for the First Look Asia Programme in March 2018 as part of the Bach in the Subways event in Singapore, where she performed the complete Bach 2-part Inventions.
 
This year, Kion will be featured in the “Prodigy Series” in the Music Fest Perugia 2018. She will be making her concerto debut at the International Piano Festival: Summer in Chopin’s Homeland in Poland. She is also a Scholarship recipient at the V Alion Baltic International Music Festival and Academy 2018, Estonia.
Ryan Phuan Yanming, 11 years old, his passion for music has led to his winning numerous top prizes and awards such as:
 
- Asia International Music Competition Finals 2015, Professional Category
- 6th ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition, Malaysia
- The Muse – International Association of Art (Greece), eMuse Piano Competition 2016
- Chopin Memorial Prizes 2017 Hong Kong, Chopin Waltz Open Category and Chopin Impromptu Open Category
- HKYPAF - The 5th Hong Kong International Youth Performing Arts Festival, Mozart Sonata Open Category
- 8th International “Piano Talents Competition 2018, Milan, Italy
 
Ryan has performed in cities such as New York, Paris, Milan, Perugia (Italy), Moscow, London, Newcastle (UK), Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Hualien (Taiwan), Batam and Singapore.
 
Ryan made his Concerto Debut at the Music Fest Perugia, Italy in July 2017. Featured in the “Prodigy Series”, he performed the Haydn Piano Concerto in D major with the Virtuosi Brunenses Orchestra under the baton of Uri Segal and Dan Wen Wei.
 
This year, he was invited to the International Festival Chopin Summer in Busko-Zdroj, Poland in July, after being awarded First Prize for the Category “Young Talents” and Best Prokofiev Performance in the II Future Stars International Piano Competition. He will then debut the Mozart Piano Concerto, K.414 at the International Piano Festival: Summer in Chopin's Homeland, Poland. He is also a Scholarship Recipient at the V Alion Baltic International Music Festival and Academy 2018, Estonia.
