Principal Conductor Jason Lai returns to the podium with the Conservatory Orchestra to present a diverse and exciting evening of orchestral masterpieces. Connected by 270km of river Danube, Vienna and Budapest have consistently produced and nurtured musical giants in the Western hemisphere; Bartók inspired a resurgence of interest in Hungarian folk music, Ligeti represented the avant-garde while seeking political refuge in Vienna, and Brahms became a musical pillar in Austria. Head of Vocal Studies at YST, lyric tenor Alan Bennett will present a selection of arias from ''The Abduction from the Seraglio'', which remains one of Mozart's most endearing operas today.
