27th EUROPEAN UNION FILM FESTIVAL
The European Union Film Festival (EUFF), Singapore's longest running foreign film festival, returns for its 27th edition. The EUFF, known for showcasing the best of contemporary European cinema, will run from May 11 to May 21, 2017. All films will be screened at National Gallery Singapore for the first time.The 27th EUFF will be presenting 27 films from 27 countries across Europe with Germany as the featured country this year. The festival opens with Goodbye Berlin (Tschick) (2016), a coming-of-age comedy drama directed by acclaimed award-winning filmmaker Fatih Akin. The 27th EUFF lineup also features book to film adaptations such as Belgium’s feature film, Problemski Hotel (2015) and the Dutch drama, Beyond Sleep (2016). The lives of some of Europe’s personalities are the central focus of some of the festival films. Finland will be presenting The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki (2016), winner of the Un Certain Regard award at the Cannes Film Festival 2016. Switzerland presents the critically acclaimed documentary, The Chinese Lives of Uli Sigg (2016), about the prominent art collector Uli Sigg.The festival will continue EUFF's long tradition of collaborating with a Singaporean film school. Secret Sounds Asia are thrilled to present British indie pop act BASTILLE - Live in Singapore on 14 August 2017 at The Star Theatre. The word Bastille brings to mind revolution, change and the storming of the old by the spirit of the new. When London-based singer/songwriter Dan Smith called his band Bastille, he was merely thinking of his birthday, July 14, France's Bastille Day. But as one of the biggest British acts in the world right now, with hindsight Smith's choice seems an ominously apt metaphor for their dramatic impact. Formed by Smith after recruiting keyboard player Kyle Simmons, bassist Will Farquarson and drummer Chris 'Woody' Wood, the band's infectious track 'Pompeii' off their 2013 debut album 'Bad Blood' has become one of the alternative anthems of the last few years. In 2016, Bastille returned with triumphant sophomore record 'Wild World', which features spectacularly catchy singles 'Good Grief' and 'Send Them Off!'. The Orchestra will explore arrangements of chart toppers from ‘80s classic rock, such as Aerosmith, AC/DC and Bon Jovi, through today’s top hits by Adele, Ariana Grande and others. The concert also features local singers Alfred Sim and Tay Kewei. Formed in 1996, NYPCO has grown from 45 members to 180. Comprising full-time students as well as alumni, they, together with maestro Mike Chiang, constantly challenge themselves by breaking out traditional modes of Chinese music and exploring a diverse repertoire over a range of genres such as Chinese and Japanese pop as well as Western classical music.This concert is in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.

Singaporean celebrities Jayley and Hayley Woo will take turns to play the Cutie Chef, in a local adaption of a new brand of "Bibap" that is set to bowl you over. Directed and produced by Choi Cheoul Ki, the name behind all-beatboxing, all-b-boying extravaganzas like "NANTA", "Jump" and "Beat", "CHEF: Bibimbap vs. Chilli Crab" will pack more choreography, music and madcap antics into the original "Bibap", which premiered to rapturous reception in 2011. So will it be Bibimbap or Chilli Crab? It's time to take sides!
