Synopsis

Tang Tee Khoon Grand Series works to bring timeless music to communities.  Each year, the team presents 2 themed projects consisting of formal Evening Concerts, interactive Concerts for Children (led by the same international and local artists), and activities within the communities like open rehearsals, school workshops, listening sessions and an internship program.

Through their Concerts and activities, TTK Grand Series seeks to use music and the arts to cultivate compassionate understanding and connection between people, and to inspire the love of classical music in all.

Since 2002 he has been a professor at Stony Brook University in New York. He plays a Matteo Gofriller cello made in 1730.

‘Violinist Tang Tee Khoon and friends transcend the ordinary’

‘performances like these leave listeners craving for more’

‘rarely does one find a performance that radiated such warmth and true feeling’

- Straits Times 2014/15   [Tang Tee Khoon Grand Series]

'his infectious joy and ability to communicate seemingly every shade of emotion in whatever he is playing has consistently led to roaring standing ovations'

- Winnipeg Free Press   [Colin Carr]

‘Recorded live … at Wigmore Hall, Colin Carr's recording of J.S. Bach's six Cello Suites is a remarkable demonstration of intellectual concentration, expressive consistency, and physical control ... Carr's approach to these masterworks is straightforward and deeply personal … flowing directly from his own expression in the moment … Carr has clearly mastered these works … so he can focus on playing the suites with a continuous, nuanced line, as well as with an acute sense of the counterpoint implied within the melodies. The results are penetrating interpretations that feel completely organic and whole, and one may listen to both discs in one sitting, feeling that the time has barely passed, so absorbing is Carr's playing.’

- Blair Sanderson, allmusic.com   [Colin Carr]

‘Having won the grand prize for all-round best musician at the 1993 National Music Competition at age nine, Tang has gone on to become a chamber musician of the highest order. Her latest concert … also showed she has matured beyond raw prodigious talent to something truly transcendent.

Despite her petite built, she exuded a big and brawny tone on the violin, one capable of cutting through plangent piano textures and capaciously filling the hall. In Prokofiev's Second Violin Sonata, she alternated between its bittersweet reminiscences and mercurial dervishes so expertly and confidently without as much as breaking into a sweat.

She brought out the requisite shades and nuances of Tchaikovsky's Souvenir D'un Lieu Cher … Through these, an unfailingly singing tone happily co-existed with an iron-clad technique and razor-keen responses.’
